Rome police on Friday cited a man claiming to be legally blind for aggravated insurance fraud and false declarations after he was caught on camera in the police station reading and signing documents without assistance.
The 68-year-old, when called into police headquarters, drove himself and was then filmed by police surveillance cameras as he reviewed and signed papers presented by the officers investigating the case.
Police have reported the man, who was in possession of a valid drivers' license, to the department of motor vehicles and to the national insurance authorities.
